Corvus Learning Trust Primary Writing Competition “My Favourite Book, My Way”
We are delighted to launch a trust-wide primary writing competition designed to celebrate children’s creativity, imagination and love of stories in the run up to World Book Day on Thursday 5th March 2026. Pupils from Hatch Ride Primary School, Oaklands Infant School, Oaklands Junior School and Kennel Lane School are invited to take part.
This competition invites pupils to create a piece of work inspired by a favourite book, story or character. There are no boundaries on genre, format or style — the emphasis is on voice, imagination and personal expression. There is no right or wrong outcome – creativity is key!
Entries can be submitted in a range of formats to best suit individual children but could include:
- Written or scribed pieces
- Recording of an audio or video piece
- Symbols, pictures, story maps or annotated drawings
- Created using assistive technology (e.g. speech-to-text, overlays)
The deadline to submit entries is Friday 27th February 2026. Please submit these to your child’s school office. Schools will shortlist entries and submit a selection from each class to be judged by the Corvus Learning Trust trustee panel on Thursday 5th March 2026. Winners will be notified on the afternoon of this date.
